Alone

Ostracism: an incredibly over used word, yet not used nearly enough. Most people have felt the feeling of being ostracized. They understand what it feels like to walk the hallways of a middle school and have hundreds of people around them but still feel completely alone. It doesn’t matter your social status, there will always be a moment that you feel ostracized. You may not even be being ostracized but someone does something you take the wrong way and bam you feel alone. People who think they are being ostracized use the word too much. People who ostracize people use the word too little.

For you of those reading this and are fooling yourself by believing that you have never had that feeling, let me take a moment to touch on the feeling of being alone. Feeling alone is a lot like that moment when you are under water holding your breath for as long as you can. You have drive to succeed at first. The first minute passes and you’re good. The second minute your throat starts to feel heavy. The third moment your ears start to feel funny. Your head is starting to feel pressure, and finally you lose it.

For the segment of people who ostracize people, I just have one thing to say. You have felt the feeling of being alone. We all have. Think back to that moment next time.

Let’s start a conversation. If you are reading this and have any comments, concerns, arguments, or you relate to anything in this passage don’t hesitate to write me a quick comment! I guarantee that I absolutely will respond. Also, it would be stellar if I got some feedback on my writings so far. Are you enjoying them? Would you like to see something a little different? Please let me know!
